The handle of this beautiful shaving brush is made of African Blackwood and has a White Horsehair knot.
African Blackwood, or Mpingo in Swahili, is an exotic wood that comes from the dry savanna regions of central and southern Africa and is considered to be among the hardest and densest of woods in the world.
Harvested from the tail (approx. 50%) and mane (approx. 50%) of the horse, they are soft and offer great water retention. Because of the higher mix of mane hair these are softer than brown Horsehair knots. It is good for both bowl and palm lathering.
